Bomb Dot Com Scone Recipe!

My older sibling Rebecca and I dubbed this recipe "bomb dot com" when we were in our early 20s and it's been the family standard ever since. You can put in literally anything you want, and the technique of freezing and grating your butter followed by a light lamination process (think croissant dough, but way simpler and rougher) makes for obscenely flaky scones that can adapt to any menu theme or season. Halloween tea party with savory cheese and pumpkin seed? Done. Summer solstice tribute for your fae garden with fresh lavender and rose petal? Don't forget extra sugar on top! Game of Thrones feast theme night? Swap out part of the flour for darker whole wheat, throw in some currants and diced ham and glaze with mead reduction! BAM. Do anything, this is legit the most versatile scone dough we've ever made. Let me know in the comments what variations you try or what theme ideas you're playing with! xoxo, Friday Print With Image Without Image Bomb Dot Com Sco...

Whole Wheat Chai Snickerdoodles

Teacup and I were chatting the other day about fun cookie recipe ideas for masala chai, and our dear friend Hannah said "oh, like chai snickerdoodles?" Um...YES! Such a fun twist on a classic American favorite. Their chewy texture, eggy richness and cinnamon coating has earned them a high ranking in the cookie hall of fame. Honestly though? While I get the appeal, I've always felt snicks were missing that "wow" factor. My solution to the boring snickerdoodle conundrum, as for most things, is MORE SPICE! The basic cookie practically asks to be paired with chai anyway, so once Hannah put the idea in our heads, we had to do it right away. We definitely ran into some obstacles in creating these cookies for you due to the lack of baking supplies in our quarantine-shopping-wracked grocery store, but we pulled it together. We ended up grinding our own flour and sugar, which I recognize is really above and beyond the average baking project. Feel free to substitu...

Guest Post: Chamomile Lemon Shortbread

Today's guest post comes to us from Ben, who we hope will share more of his fabulous recipes in future! -Friday I’m a bit of a tea obsessive. What started as an (unhealthy) addiction to coffee, has now seen me change lanes to tea. And with this change, I’ve always tried to get creative with my tea use. From  putting together therapeutic cups of turmeric tea , to using tea bags as a way to battle my shoe odors,  I’ve found a plethora of ways to adapt it for everyday use. Enter these chamomile tea and lemon shortbread biscuits. Using tea for baking isn’t always the first thing that comes to mind when I think of interesting ways to  incorporate it, but these shortbread biscuits are too good not to try. Chamomile is the perfect ingredient for these shortbread biscuits. Its delicate flavors and relaxing  properties match beautifully with the lemon zest, bringing together a subtle taste to an already  comforting food in the form of shortb...
